Piercing FAQs » Nostril Piercing FAQ
| Answers | What is this bump?
The bump is a slight inflamation of scar tissue that is caused by irritation to the piercing. It is most commonly caused by jewelry not fitting perfectly, causing it to move around a lot in the piercing, or by being touched a lot. it generally forms around a month or two after the initial piercing and will go away if handled properly.
First, make sure jewelry fits right. If it doesn't, we will refit your jewelry for you, just stop in anytime.
Make sure you are soaking correctly- measuring your sea salt is very important!
Do not touch your piercing!
Other factors include your body's general health and well being- high levels of stress cause bumps and not drinking enough water or getting enough rest.
We also have found that the product H2Ocean is very helpful and convenient. We carry it here at Piercology- it is a purified ocean water mist that you spray onto the piercing a few times a day to help condition the skin and keep it healthy.
The bump is temporary and will go away if you take good care of it! Back to top
| Why does the tail of my nostril jewelry always hang out of my nose?
Because it doesn's fit right. We custom bend nostril jewelry to fit your nose, and we can do this for you anytime. Typically we allow a little bit of room for swelling when you get your initial piercing, and lot of times after about a month or so when the swelling is gone the jewely fits too loose and needs to be re-fitted. Stop in anytime for this. Back to top
| Can I get pierced with a small stud?
Absolutely. We carry a large selection of nostril jewelry, including tiny studs (with and without gems) and we custom fit them for your nose when you get pierced. Back to top
| Will it leave a scar if I take it out?
All piercings leave scars, but generally nostril scars are very very small- they usually look like a big pore; if you are looking for it, you can find it, but you generally won't notice it on your face otherwise. And the better you take care of your piercing, the less of a scar it will leave. Back to top
